Zumba- So Much Fun! But Is It Effective?
Hey, all! Today I want to talk a about a form of cardio that I find to be so much fun! For months I was working my ass off running on cardio machines putting in so much effort, and yeah I'm sure it was effective, but did I enjoy it? Not really. I found it to be boring and time just seemed to go by so slowly. At last, I found something different...something I could actually make a habit of doing. That of course, is Zumba!
Zumba is for absolutely everyone and for those of all fitness levels. There are classes for beginners all the way up to intermediate. Usually, classes are about an hour long and people attend them about 3 times a week.
As you may know, this specific kind of cardio is a form of dance allowing you to let loose and just have fun with it no matter how funny you might look. It takes time to get down all the moves, but once you get the hang of it, you'll understand just why I love Zumba so much!
Personally, for myself...I prefer dancing in my own home where nobody can see me shaking what my momma gave me haha. I guess I'm just a bit shy. Something I'm trying to break free from, though.
You might be wondering now, just how many calories does Zumba actually burn? Well, depending on how intense your workout sessions are....it will burn anywhere from 500-1,000 per hour. To burn 3,500 calories you would actually have to dance like someone pumped up on speed for about 3 and a half hours. This is not recommended due to over exhaustion and also because you would actually start burning away at muscle and we want that muscle because it actually helps burn away at all the unwanted fat thus...making us thinner. You see, even though muscle weighs more than fat (which is why you shouldn't be constantly stepping on the scale if you're trying to lose weight) it is so important to losing inches off our bodies. That's why strength training is so necessary paired with good cardio.
So usually I will do Zumba about 3 times a week...and yes, I do it in front of my t.v and dance like no ones watching because HAH no one is so I can look like a total goof and nothing makes me happier...except chocolate. Chocolate makes me very happy. In fact, I'm snacking on some (dark chocolate) now and it is so good! Anywayyy.... haha, I usually will have a playlist ready on Youtube so that I can just keep dancing without having to stop and search for certain videos. The only annoying thing is having to put up with all the ads. One day... I will have the courage to go to an actual class, lol. For now, I enjoy just dancing with my two fur babies being my only audience. :)
I want you to know, though, that you are capable of anything if you just set your mind to it. Don't let fear stand in your way because that is what holds you back from conquering your future. You got this because you are strong, and you are confident!
